Spring is here and we are ready for you to discover a variety of events offered throughout Franklin Southampton! Explore the highlights below and check out our event calendar to plan a trip. Don’t forget to explore our dining and shopping options so you can make a day of it!

April 1st: Open Mic Night at Storehouse

No April Fools… It’s legit. Come showcase your amazing talents behind the mic or just come hangout to enjoy the sounds & fun! Stop by Storehouse or DM them on social to be added to the performance signup list! (You can also signup the night of & they will work you into the lineup!) $3 entry fee or a canned food item (Items will be donated to Franklin Cooperative Ministry).

Throughout the Spring Season, The Hubs Vine will be bringing musicians in for an intimate evening of music, food, and wine! Purchase tickets by calling 757-569-1178 or stopping in the shop. Other Spring dates include April 21st, May 19th and June 16th.

April 5th and 21st: Storytime at Storehouse with Blackwater Regional Library

Come out to storytime at Storehouse with the Blackwater Regional Library team! The theme on April 5th is Book Mobile and you will get a chance to tour the awesome Book Mobile! April 21st is celebrating Mother Earth with an Earth Day theme! Enjoy storytime, singing, crafts and a free book. 

April 7th (Every Thursday) Trivia Night at VPC Gourmet Market

Come out for a fun evening of trivia, great food and a wonderful beer and wine selection. Bring 6 friends or grab a seat at table that isn’t full and make new friends! Starts at 7 PM every Thursday! (No Trivia Night, Thursday, May 19th)

April 9th: Down Home Day at the Southampton Agriculture and Forestry Museum

Want to step back in time for an awesome family fun day? Come out and enjoy the grounds that include antique farm equipment, an old store, church, school, and out house =) Activities to enjoy during the day include a petting zoo, souvenirs from a working printing press, bluegrass music, and much more. Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for kids over 5.

April 23rd: Downtown Franklin Spring Fest and Virginia’s Historic Garden Week

Come to town and enjoy TWO great events to celebrate Spring! Downtown Franklin streets will be lined with vendors of all sorts from local businesses, new crafters, art vendors and more for Spring Fest. The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Artmobile will also be in town! Historic Garden Week is featuring 4 beautiful homes and one unique park on the Franklin Tour. This event is from 9 AM to 5 PM. Tickets can be purchased here.

April 29th and May 13th: VPC Gourmet Market Wine Tasting

This event is free and open to the public. VPC will bring in a wine rep who will talk about the 5-6 wines that customers are able to sample. They will also be holding another tasting event on May 13th. Check their Facebook page for more details.

May 1st and 15th: River Road Farm Music in the Country

If you missed the fall season of these concerts, DO NOT miss the Spring fun! Not only is the farm the perfect setting for the outdoor concert but the musicians they bring are AWESOME! People on the Porch will be playing on May 1st from 12:00 to 6:00 P.M. and on May 15th, Caitlin Krisco & the Broadcast will be rocking in Franklin. Visit their website for tickets.

May 7th: Franklin Cruise In Kickoff and Lumberjack Festevent

Another chance to enjoy TWO great events! Franklin Cruise In will kick off it’s season in conjunction with the 1st Lumberjack Festevent that will include: antique and custom vehicles, Paul Bunyan Lumberjack show, food heritage vendors, kayaks, games, raffles, cornhole tournament, kids area, demonstrations, chainsaw carver, axe throwing, melodrama, live band and more! Happening from 9 AM to 10 PM in Downtown Franklin.

May 11th (Every Wednesday): Franklin Cruise In

Come out for the weekly family fun event in Downtown Franklin! Bring the kids, your dogs and all your friends to explore Downtown Franklin and take in the beautiful custom and antique rides that show up each week. If you have an awesome ride, come and show off! 

May 14th: A Day in the Country

Bring the whole family and enjoy the outdoors at A Day in the Country hosted by the Franklin-Southampton County Fair! Enjoy music, car shows, food, kid's activities, truck shows, corn hole, and vendors! The fun is happening from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm and is $8.00 per person with children 6 and under being free!

June 11th: Chalk It Up! at Rawls Museum Arts

Come out to the Chalk It Up! Family Arts Festival and Fundraiser on Saturday, June 11th from 11 am to 3 pm.  There will be a chalk design contest, exhibit and gallery talk with Christopher Revels, live music, food and beverages, and much more!
